Best Under-25 Prospects In Boxing Today

The future of boxing looks brighter than ever. There are some brilliant prospects in the world of pugilism – today, we’d like to run you through ten of the very best.

We’ll be looking at fighters from the UK, USA and Mexico in this list, amongst others. Competition for our top ten was fierce – sadly, some excellent fighters just missed out on a spot. Before we begin, here are a smattering of honourable mentions.

Honourable Mentions

First of all, Curmel Moton can consider himself our unofficial #11 pick. He’s still very much a work in progress, having never been really tested in the professional ranks, but his stellar amateur record speaks for itself. As Floyd Mayweather’s protege, he has some massive shoes to fill.

Heavy-punching Super-Flyweight Jack Turner also caught our eye. His technique is a bit wild for someone in such a diminutive weight class, but his one-punch knockout power is peerless in his division.

We’d also like to give a shoutout to George Liddard – the manner in which he dismantled Kieron Conway was very impressive, becoming the youngest-ever British Middleweight champion in the process.

10. Zaquin Moses

Zaquin Moses is in a similar position to Curmel Moton. His skills are readily apparent to anyone who has seen him fight, but we’ve yet to see him fight someone around his level.

He and Moton fought each other in the amateurs back in 2023, where Moses emerged victorious by a razor-thin split decision. A cultured fighter with phenomenal timing and a rapier-esque jab, Moses has plenty of strings to his bow for a 20-year-old.

He can be somewhat defensively irresponsible at times – he’s sometimes found overreaching or spending too much time in his opponent’s range – but this is a weakness that will become less apparent as he matures.

9. Jesus Ramos Jr.

Jesus Ramos Jr certainlly isn’t the most technically refined of fighters, but he makes up for it with a solid chin, limitless stamina and extremely heavy hands.

We’re cheating a bit by including him, as he is over the age limit – however, has he only turned 25 a few days ago, we’re happy to make an exception for him.

Ramos Jr is the only fighter on our list to have picked up a loss in his professional career. Again, we can also excuse this – not only did it come against former World Title contender Erikson Lubin, many thought he should’ve been given the victory on the scorecards.

8. Bakary Samake

The future of French boxing is riding on the shoulders of this man. He isn’t just a fighter – he has also set up his own promotion, the aptly-named Samake Promotions, all before his 23rd birthday.

He often looks two, three or four steps ahead of his opponent, given his superlative quickness and ring IQ. He can be found lacking defensively, but he hasn’t fought anyone who has been able to force him onto the backfoot yet.

Previously, his lack of power seemed to be an issue. Nevertheless, given his vicious KO victory over Alejandro Ortiz last time out, it’s safe to say that this concern is a thing of the past now.

7. Floyd Schofield Jr.

Floyd Schofield Jr’s career is being held back by one key element – his inactivity. With more rounds under his belt, he’d surely command a higher spot on this list.

Last time out, he recorded a highly-impressive win over wily veteran Tevin Farmer, stopping him in one round, but he hasn’t fought since. Effectively, this means that Schofield has only had one professional round since 2024.

Despite this, Schofield is a tremendous talent. With some very heavy hands and sharp boxing IQ, he has all the tools to go far in the pro game.

6. Jadier Herrera

In many ways, Jadier Herrera resembles a smaller version of Jai Opetaia (not in terms of his appearance, of course). His defence is frail at the best of times, but he makes up for it with excellent timing, amazing confidence and serious punching power.

He is the grandson of former two-time Olympic gold-medalist Angel Herrera Vera – as such, boxing flows through his veins. Jadier’s amatuer career didn’t produce much to speak of, but he is making up for it in the pro ranks.

While he’s definitely an entertaining fighter, Herrera will need to tighten up his defence as he matures. He’s been knocked down before – he knows he cannot rely on his chin to carry him to the top.

5. Moses Itauma

The only heavyweight to make our list, Moses Itauma is truly frightening. Aged just 21, he’s one of the biggest punchers in the division – he also has some of the quickest hands of any heavyweight in the world.

As a budding British superstar, naturally, people are keen to poke holes in his approach. While he hasn’t been put in a dangerous position as of yet, this is merely a testament to his abilities.

Many believed he would have trouble against former world title challenger Dillian Whyte, but after he crushed the ‘Body Snatcher’ in a round, they quickly changed their tune. Not only does he have fast hands, he also possesses quick feet – let’s see if Jermaine Franklin can give him the rounds he needs.

4. Diego Pacheco

Diego Pacheco’s placement on this list may be controversial to some, given his previous outing against Kevin Lele Sadjo, but we don’t think it did anything to hurt his stock. If anything, it showed how indomitable of a warrior he is – many others would have folded under such intense pressure (from an undefeated fighter, no less).

At 6ft 4, Pacheco is very tall for a Super-Middleweight. For reference, he is just one inch shorter than WBO Heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley – this certainly gives him scope to move up in weight if he and his team choose to do so.

As he grows older, a progression through the weight classes seems inevitable – we’ll have to see how he fares at Light-Heavyweight or even Cruiserweight later down the line. For now, while he is still developing, we’d keep him at Super-Middle – especially after he suffered a knockdown in his last fight.

3. Adam Azim

As British boxing’s flagship prospect, Adam Azim is under a lot of pressure to become a superstar. Thankfully, he has all the tools to do so, having won a world title when he was just 23 years of age.

With extremely quick hands and underrated punching power, Azim has overcome every challenge that he has faced with flying colours at this stage in his career. He hasn’t been molly-coddled, either – he has fought some serious contenders in his short career, but none of them have been able to touch him.

Some think he is spinning his wheels at BOXXER – however, being their number one star, they treat him as such. Plenty of fighters left Ben Shalom after his Sky Sports deal ended, but Azim has remained loyal.

2. Xander Zayas

Like Diego Pacheco, Xander Zayas also received criticism after he faced a stern, stubborn opponent in his most recent fight. Unlike Pacheco, however, he passed his test with far more positives to take away.

We already knew that Zayas had fast hands and neat footwoork, but we also learned that he has a solid chin and the heart of a lion when he defeated Abass Baraou. He had previously won the WBO Super-Welterweight title against Jorge Garcia Perez, but this proved to be a much tougher test.

Puerto Rico has been crying out for a new top star for years at this point. Zayas is their best hope in over a decade – as one of the world’s proudest boxing regions, the pressure on this young man is immense.

1. Abdullah Mason

Abdullah Mason has to take the top spot on our list. At the young age of just 21, he looks like a once-in-a-lifetime talent – especially so after his fight of the year contender last year against Sam Noakes.

He came under heavy pressure against Noakes, but kept his cool to land some sharp counters and take home a competitive, but clear decision victory. The extent of his talents are difficult to put into words – we have seen him overcome adversity, unlike many of the other fighters on this list.

He is already a world champion, capturing the WBO Lightweight title in his last bout. If we had to pick a flaw in his game, we’d point to his somewhat-leaky defence, but his chin, composure and powers of recovery more than make up for it.
